I think the only thing I'm not capable of understanding is drug use itself, and the appeal of it. On the contrary, I see legalization or decriminalization or end the drug war advocates pushing ideas they clearly don't understand. Even pushing ideas that contradict with other ideas they hold. I really think people don't understand what they want and haven't thought too much about it. For example, calling addiction to legal painkillers a problem when that's what they seem to be wanting for all other illegal drugs is a contradiction. Holding up Portugal as an ideal of decriminalization when they clearly don't understand what Portugal's drug laws really are, or even be willing to read they are. en.wikipedia.org *"The* *cultivation of cannabis*, even if in very small-scale home grow for personal use only, can legally be prosecuted." ... "In Portugal, recreational use of cannabis is forbidden by law; also the medicinal use is not yet officially recognized (there are a debate and some law projects in the Portuguese Parliament)." That's Portugal today and I don't think it's what any anti-drug war American wants. They don't even have medical marijuana there yet.
