The hypocrisy of both Rs and Ds on this issue (and others) is just embarrassing. Rs are all about freedom and the constitution and getting government out of our lives. Until it conflicts with a dogmatic view they hold on some other subject -- then all that crap is out the window so they can support their long-established, dug-in perspective.

It is no different, at all, from Democrats who are totally committed to the idea of global warming. No matter how much evidence there is casting doubt on the original concepts, they'll go to any lengths -- including inventing new problems, new terminology, and new "science" to support their cause.

Unfortunately, it can be difficult to cast aside a lifetime's worth of dogma, even when it is clearly hurting more than it helps. And it is why nothing gets done on this issue and others. Nobody is willing to consider they might have been wrong all these years so even though we have the worst drug problems in the world at inestimably high cost, we keep doing it.

While you may not be capable of understanding drug use yourself, you can look around and clearly see it is a problem and the things we're doing now aren't working. Why are you okay with government spending 100B/year or more destroying the lives of people, half or more of whom COULD be saved? Why was okay with it for decades?

Why do you think it is that during the 20-something debates the R. candidates held, not one question was ever asked on this subject?
