The other night we had an incident here in los angeles where a 19 year old male named Abdul Arian was shot and killed by the police on the 101 freeway. I happened to get caught in the resulting traffic nightmare.

This was just 5 nights ago and the family is suing for $120 million dollars. Here is how the press is spinning the story now:

In a tragic turn of events, the teenager was pursued by six squad cars on the streets of Los Angeles for failure to heed a routine traffic stop which ultimately ended in his death on a major Los Angeles freeway. Mr. Arian was chased by police until he stopped his vehicle on a major Southern California freeway. Within moments of getting out of his vehicle, holding nothing more than a cell phone, eight Los Angeles Police Officers fired approximately 120 rounds into the unarmed young man, killing him.

On the local news stations they have stopped showing the complete video of the event. However, that night they showed it over and over on the news. The kid called 911 and told the police that he had a gun and that if the police turned their guns on him that he would shoot them. Further, when he got out of his car, he ran for about 100 feet and then turned and crouched into a two handed shooting stance. Stayed in that position for a second, ran again and then turned again and took the same shooting stance. That's when he was shot and killed. It later came out that he didn't have a gun and it was his cell phone being held like a gun. It was 10pm and obviously dark when this happened. I saw the video at least 20 times that night. I certainly couldn't tell that it was a cell phone and if he took those positions pointing his cell phone at me, I certainly would have thought it was a gun. But now the press isn't showing the very damning video and the family is ignoring the 911 tapes where the kid tells the cops that he has a gun. And the only time that it comes out that he is muslim is when the protestors (yes, protestors...200 of them) declared that it was racially motivated.

Just found a version of the story that is more in line with what I saw:
