I actually blame Peter Lynch 50% for the overheated Stock Market. He was the one who gave the little guy the guts to go and look around his neighborhood, see what's selling, and buy the stock. After all, that's what Peter Lynch says he did. What Peter Lynch didn't tell people was that he was surrounded by hundreds of other people who would give him the correct context to make decisions inspired by his wife's shopping. Since Peter Lynch told everyone that they could be Peter Lynch, everyone now thinks they're Peter Lynch and owns tons of stock which they may have a hard time selling if it ever comes to that. The people who sold off early and paid their mortgages are the smart ones.

I blame the banks pushing stocks on everyone for the other 50%.
