Hawkmoon,

What the hell is "MSM" anyway??

The majority of journalists at the New York Times, LA Times, CBS, PBS, NPR, Time, Newsweek etc. are principled and understand their important role in our system... Journalists are the only group I know of that are protected as an occupation specifically in the Bill of Rights (Congress shall make no law... abridging the freedom of the press.") as the founders recognized that powerful interests, private or government, would be threatened by the sunlight and results.

The whole "MSM" false equivalency with shill media, where the wall between journalism and the revenue side has been sold to the highest bidders -- or the Soviet version where the Party used the press as a propaganda vector-- is created by the bid-for-news B-roller forces to boost their credibility. Its the intentional fog machines in blow mode.

If you all are so cynical as to equate CBS News etc. with FoxNews, there is little hope for this nation's enlightened decision making. If you think the Sunday news-maker shows like Meet The Press or Face The Nation are equivalent to Limbaugh or the 700 Club, we probably are on different planets.

There are clearly designated pundit shows on MSNBC and FoxNews for example; they DO have a different mission than reporter journalists and must be judged by the quality of their facts and processes of analysis, as well as if they are independent thinkers or being given talking points to deliver. There is a difference in those shows, for example Hannity the RNC channeler vs. Maddow the ideological P.h.D. in Political Science. Its not black and white whether you agree with them or not politically -- they are different beyond merely their politics. Less so for Ed Shultz IMO, who is a (proud) partisan more on party lines like the FoxNews shows.

Its similar to arguing that creationism is science, or that Science is a religion. False equivalency for people who think in binary black vs. white, ducks and bunnies cognitive models. The world is complicated. 50-50 is too rounded off to have meaning.
