The dog-eating in Korea has become an inside joke among Koreans there and abroad. There are many who think the practice should be banned, and there are many who think it's a long-standand part of Korean tradition.

It not just dog-eating. My sister has worked in a large county animal shelter for many years. Among far eastern cultures, she says Koreans tend to be inconsiderate of their dogs.........not really considering them as part of the family. Chinese to a much lesser extent and Japanese not at all.
