| This message board is a REFUGE for those wishing to have a dialogue about companies that we might have an affinity for, without seeing constant lies, distortion, misinformation, repeated posts (sometimes a dozen at a time), and always the last word, which often constitutes nothing more than rude and demeaning name-calling. Rooky has been the victim of an especially hateful tirade for years, because he is one of the only posters who has given out his name and address and does not hide behind the anonymity most of the rest of us enjoy. Of course, in this internet era, it isn't long before his wife, his age, his home, his neighborhood, his friends, etc., are all maligned, obviously to get HIM to stop posting. I do believe that in the rush to separate ourselves from the truly negative people, pursuing their own agendas in any manner they can, we can be criticized for not encouraging a dialogue that is unafraid to discuss negative things as well as positive things about the company or companies we are discussing. The problem, for some of us, is that even a smidgen of concern about something, later will get blown up by these negative posters on other message boards. I said on this message board once that I was disappointed, to date, with Advent's performance. It is still a business that cost little and WILL BE profitable, but compared to the Streetlinks success, I have been a bit underwhelmed so far. One of the banned posters took that to another board and suggested a "long" was agreeing with him on his frequent lies about this sub being closed down. (Glad to hear new things are coming for Advent). But, it is these mean-spirited and dishonest people who make it difficult to have a completely meaningful dialogue. This Board at least allows discussion without being personally bushwhacked seconds after the post. |
