If you all are so cynical as to equate CBS News etc. with FoxNews, there is little hope for this nation's enlightened decision making. Look at what an NBC producer did with the 911 call from Zimmerman.. Seriously, you don't think that was just a little "slip" that wasn't sanctioned from some where "on high"? I think the days of serious, credible investigative journalism are under serious threat. Too much pressure to be "all news, all the time" and push ratings higher. And then when a big story breaks, money can prevent coverage from occurring.. Take the financial crisis for instance. How many bankers have gone to jail over that compared to the number who went to jail over the S&L fiasco? Somehow that's not newsworthy enough to become a major hot-button issue. So it's not the journalists that I worry about.. It's the editorial "gate keepers" that threaten the freedom of the press in this country. Hawk
