MM,

I'm not touching OXHP this week, either long or short.

As for short interest being a bullish indicator, I beg to differ. It has been my experience that in many cases, a permanently high level of short interest indicates a company with substantial problems and that the shorts eventually get their pound of flesh.

The Oct 3d Value Line has the parliculars of OXHP's balance sheet illustrated a bit differently than you do. Book value for 1996 is $7.73/share with 1997 estimate of $11.85/share. As for OXHP's current position, that $8 in cash/share, is offset by current liabilities of $639 million (as of 6/30/97) or $8.95/share for 77 million shares - with all their healthcare automation systems problems, I doubt even the management of OXHP knows for sure the actual current liabilities of the company at this point. As for future earnings, well there is a lot of uncertainty there - otherwise the stock wouldn't be languishing in the low 20's.
