Shivu; RE:" Why do the French Kiss the Way they do..."
Thanks for the good read (^_^)

Everybody (from San Francisco) knows that Amsterdam is a *LOT* more fun to play cybercaf‚ ;-) Vraiment, Shivu - over here we call it L'exception Francaise. But the main reason why the internet, or le r‚seau is so undeveloped is that making a local call to your ISP is billed just like a long-distance call in the States. It costs about $100 per week to surf and cybertrade. Until we have some way of making the 'Net accessible to folks over here, it will remain in the realm of the American ex-patriots (like me) who are addicted to it, and university students, who pay nothing for it.
Perhaps the article you cited explains why Jean-Louis Gass‚ did SUCH a fine job driving Apple into the Toys-R-Us acquisition list.
Even stranger than their attitude towards the internet, Shivu, is the general attitude on the Continent towards investing and trading stocks. One French Premier recently made a speech about the "evils" of capital gains, or as he put it, "...making money while you are sleeping" (!) It is only recently that (some) newspapers have begun to publish stock market tables. Germany is more American-like, but there, too - trading is considered ridiculous by most folks. Options are thought of as downright exotic, and sometimes there are articles in the paper that talk about them with the same tongue-wagging tone reserved for the shenanigans of celebrities caught en flagrante delicto.
But they *DO* kiss real nice. Kinda makes up for a lot.
