It was actually Oryx Energy that re-invigorated Dilley.
The "Austin Chalk" formation was considered history
until he idea of horizontal drilling caught on. Oryx
Energy was the last to give up on the Austin Chalk.
I remember one well that produced something like
200 BBLS of salt water per one BBL oil. They had to pay
to have the saline removed.

Looks like watermellons are the future for Dilley.
This is also the place famous for monkeys. I have
not kept up with the monkey story, but I think
the monkey situation has seen better times.
