Doesn't Amazon already host Netflix?

Yes, they do.

They get paid without owning it.

Are you kidding? Of course they get paid, but not like they would from the millions of subscribers they would get from an acquisition of Netflix.

The question is whether the content deals Netflix has in place would transfer to Amazon if Amazon were to buy them. Sometimes contracts like that are written to apply only to the original company and are void if they are bought out, if I recall correctly.
