John- I started reading the Swerve. I LOVE it.
Great. I'm very glad to hear that. I'm a bit surprised because not a lot of folk like intellectual mystery tales of the sort he is trying to spin early on.

On another book, Robert Hughes' book simply entitled Rome, I'm reading it on my iPad since we plan to spend a week in historic Rome in late May.

Hughes still has his dazzling writing style that's more like artistic creation than simply a very long essay or even an historical work or, heaven forbid, a book for tourists.

And he starts with, among other things, Bruno's burning at the stake. In Rome.

If anyone plans to hit the Rome scene or has a particularly interest in the city or something even more powerful, Hughes' book looks as if it's well worth the effort.
