Barbara, interventions can only act to slow upward or
downward movements. There is a school of thought, however,
that the only thing it accomplishes is increasing volatility.

Look, I don't know for sure if the Fed is
buying S&P500 futures to slow equity market declines.
But I've seen intervention in the currency markets
many, many times and this seems similar.

All I know is if things are happening that you can't
explain, change your assumptions.
Well, I did that
and Fed equity market intervention passes the smell test.FWIW.
