With required qualifications at least twice a year and each firing several hundred rounds followed by night fire


Several hundred rounds are needed only once for initial weapon familiarization and qualification.
After that only 4-5 magazines at most are needed, especially if qualification is 2x or more annually.

If 45,000 men fire 50 rounds for each qual, 2x annually it totals 4,500,000 rounds.
The order placed is for 450,000,000.

I doubt we fire 5 million rounds annually in Afghanistan.
