S&P KEEPS BUY RECOMMENDATION ON SHARES OF KLA-TENCOR

8:48 AM ET 4/27/12 | S&P Marketscope

KLAC posts Mar-Q operating EPS of $1.27, vs. $1.22, beating our $1.08 estimate.

Sales rose 31% from Dec-Q, well above our view, driven by higher foundry spending.

Margins widened, on higher utilization.

We see KLAC's process control systems gaining traction at lower technology nodes given yield challenges and expect recent capital spending increases by key customers supporting growth.

We raise our FY 12 (Jun.) operating EPS forecast $0.31 to $4.44 and FY 13's by $0.37 to $4.70. We initiate FY 14 at $5.35.

We up our 12-month target price by $5 to $63, on P/E near peers.

<<No matter how well they did this past quarter, KLAC is selling down over 5 percent today>>
