The pilot is supposed to tie the tail to a immovable object if no one is at the controls. I have done this when the battery was dead in my Cessna 150. I've done it a few times without tieing the tail until a friend of mine tried the same stunt with a Cessna 180. This time he had a "little bit too much throttle". His Cessna went out of control and crashed into about 5 planes before it drove into a Lake Amphibian.

It was not a pretty sight! Now I always tie the tail down in those dead battery situations!
