OK, but I think the iPod example doesn't translate to this market. Remember that the Shuffle came into being as the first flash-based iPod, made very tiny for people who wanted to go running, cycling, or walking. I don't see how a smaller iPad really addresses a great need, especially if it is as dumbed down as the Kindle is. The Kindle is for people who only want to consume Amazon content, and to surf the web a little. It doesn't provide anywhere near the varied experience possible on an iPad.

I agree with all of that.

My iPod Shuffle example was only to answer Annie's contention that Apple doesn't dumb down anything they make, when the evidence is that they will if the market is there and they can make a profit on it.

It'll be interesting to see which way Apple goes with the Kindle FiPad.
