Beg to differ. What they are buying from reputable companies is quality. Service and support have become less important. You need very little service and support if you buy a product that has been carefully designed, manufactured and packaged.

Service and support needs began dwindling rapidly as technology appliances have become commodity items with lives of less than 2 years. The stuff is so cheap, it is less expensive to replace it when it breaks, rather than repair it. (IMHO, of course)
