Just recommended your post as not only did it tell ways of rational analyses beneath the surface of mere GDP, but also did it trigger more pondering around debt and GDP. Except for spending and burning, rate of money and probably price increases also play a role or two in debt and GDP interpretation.

In the digital money dominated world, things are so much further complicated.
