I use to be an anti-marijuana just-say-no kind of guy. But back in 98 my wife was diagnosed with breast cancer. She went through total hell and reached a point where the nasuea and inability to eat posed a critical threat to her survival. On the advice of a doctor (informal and with a wink, inasmuch as he could get into serious trouble) we decided to try marijuana.

It was my task to find some. Didnt have a clue how to proceed. Fortunately I have a nephew who was in a band and acting on that stereotype I made inquiries. It was the right move and Next day a nice young lady delivered some to our house.

I was skeptical and believed all the nonsense the government tells you about weed. But we were desperate and so my wife gave it a go.

And this stuff absolutely saved her life - a miracle. She could eat again and everything turned around. She beat the cancer and is healthy to this day.

The claim by some that marijuana has no health benefit is total crap. And I am so angry at those who use big government to criminalize it. In my state I could have done 10 years in prison for the amount of weed I kept in the house. Totally ridiculous..

Because I was now already a "criminal" I decided to go one better and smoked it recreationally a few times. I loved it - a lot better than booze IMO. But because I don't like to smoke (kicked a tobacco addiction years ago) and because I don't like breaking laws, no matter how stupid, I quit after awhile.

Anyway the experience opened my eyes to what a ridiculous farce the war on drugs thing is. It's big government overreach of the worst - government dictating our blood chemistry. Waste of money and completely counter productive. It's my belief that conservatives should support decrimianlization at a minimum.
