Jane,
no apologies needed. never really expect them. give them only when I know I've acted unwisely... no hard feelings from me.
Ghunk, the half life of a post on this thread is not the typical 12 hours. I have read your posts and am grateful for them. I am on a vacation where I find myself working harder than at home.....no time to digest and comment....but I appreciate your extended effort and intend to study them when I get to point where that is possible.....please do not leave us now.....You are providing what you have noticed is lacking.....
I agree with you ghunk, the original intent of the thread was metaphysics and practice. Practice is a tool. Good practices are, or should be good tools for any belief system. I have my own beliefs....which I have liberally sprinkled through recent posts; but they are immaterial to the concepts of practice. In early posts I reflected on my own loose set of practices. Tomato has raised some issues that in many ways can be regarded as practice.....
I feel the semantics of ACIM are weak....and easily critiqued, as both of us pointed out; but the question is can this set of statements, if put into practice, produce some good to the being who utilizes them. Tomato has pointed out a degree of personal benefit. I have not seriously considered them in practice, but I have given a few of the points more thought in light Tomato's comments.
I wonder if Tomato can comment on how your recent posts reflect on ACIM. That is, Tomato, given your practice and knowledge of these points, are they metaphysically sound, in light of Ghunks posts on essential Metaphysical postulates? Secondly, whether or not they are, have you found that you practice continues to benefit you?
Ghunk do you think that a set of practices can be metaphysically unsound, and still provide a path toward the Goal? Or are we talking about two different things. Does sound Metaphysics have anything to do, or more precisely, is it determinant in judging a particular set of practices....or does Metaphysics deal with belief systems, with little applicability to practice?
Is ACIM a belief system or is it a set of statements that provide a basis for spiritual practice?
Regards to all from the warm heart of Aloha.
