OSO Big Pappy is coming to huff and puff and blow the LSI house down: Lastly, a new division (Digital Imaging and Video Division), will be formed to focus on the emerging fields of digital imaging and video associated with the PC and stand-alone digital cameras. intel.com; This should be a cause for concern (but maybe not alarm) to those interested in LSI long term... and NSM and VLSI and SGS-Thomson etc etc... As well INTC interested in consumner products such as set-top boxes... And NCs... check the above out... big profits attract big boys... big bad bully wants in... open up! open up! Or we could hope INTC buys someone out... Or forms alliances... (Caveat: don't know details - may be reading more into this than was intended. By reorganizing is INTC laying down the gauntlet and saying we are entering these markets, we are going to start making chips for these markets, get out of the way or be assimilated by the BORG ? 'tis the key question.)
