That passage refers to Native Americans who were recruited for the British, and that the Indians could be brutal at war. It uses rheotric from the fabric of the times.. I'm sure you knew that. Likewise much of Lincoln's rhetoric a century later, it must be judged in context to the times.

Neverthelesss, I was referring to the great socialistic statement of human rights:

We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.

Its been a hard road, still is.

Again, the rhetoric of the time, says "all men are created equal" but we are mature and wise enough to know they did not mean to exclude women.
