The following chart shows NPD’s ranking of manufacturers, based on Q1 sales of new smartphones: npd.com The previous Mobile Phone Track report by them directly addressed your point, that the iPhone isn't particularly good getting first time buyers. Android's push downmarket means they are growing the smartphone pie. npd.com
