which is not the Apple I know.
I beg to differ. I think all the carrier has a volume agreement of how many Iphone they will sell and hence periodically, we see price cut to stimulate sales if they cannot meet those target. This is just a side effect of the fast rollout strategy of 4S and Ipad 3. We see a very strong initial sales and then lumpy quarter afterward since all the initial upgrade demand are met and no new market to compensate for weaker sale in previously launched market. I think the 64k question is whether ATT can meet the same 4.3 m 4S activation this Q as in 1Q. I think that is the focus on F3Q earning. It is very hard to see a QoQ jump of Iphone sales in US (International may do better especially in China.. But by how much is the key question..)

AT&T said it activated 4.3 million of the smartphones, up from the 3.6 million activated in the first quarter of 2011. But that’s down significantly from the 7.6 million activated by the wireless carrier in the fourth quarter, after the iPhone 4S model launched.
