John, I absolutely and fully agree... his shame is part of his self loathing and clearly racist attitude toward blacks in general... a very twisted and unfortunate problem people create for themselves due to illogical biases and prejudices... what people don't say is as important as what they do say... mind you, he never said he would approve of a black Italian to join his club, he only said that the club would allow a black Italian to join, in other words he doesn't own or agree with the decision, he keeps it at arm's length in order not to associate or identify with such a decision, e.g., the club would allow it but not him personally... GZ
