Meteorological and solar forecasts seem hand-in-hand. In the weather model world, next 2 weeks should see hot over western US (W.US) and cold over eastern US (E.US). Note: hot=above average, cold=below average...regionally speaking, see map from CPC). High pressure over Nebraska and Kansas will allow heat to build over W.US and cold to settle down over E.US.

Mid-May, high advances to east coast and over Atlantic Ocean...bringing heat with it over E.US and relief to W.US and central US. The collision between hot and cold air over Ohio River area will create "avenue" of instability for disturbances to strengthen, leading to waves of rain/severe weather over Ohio River area and east coast megalopolis (DC, Philly, New York, etc.)...so hot/humid/stormy pattern for E.US last half of May. Media will refer to this as "summer-like" pattern...inferring that it rarely gets hot and stormy in last-half of May.

I'm going to Duluth, Minnesota for Memorial Day weekend. I'll pack my sweater and long-pants and laugh at the east-coast complain about heat/humidity/rain.

Let's see what happens :)
