Yes, the current economy is Obama's and if the election were held today, he would be re-elected.
If he does get reelected its neither because of the economy, nor his handling of the economy, both of which are and have been poor.

Also its far from certain he would win. If the election was held today it would be pretty close. OH and FL are tossup states and if Romney wins both then he probably wins the election. Obama has a little bit of an advantage in that he probably only needs to win one or the other. OTOH if things shift a little in Romney's direction other states come in to play, it wouldn't take a big shift to wipe out Obama's modest advantage, and even going by current polling data in the states Romney would have a serious chance if the election happened now.
