Lugar Flailing: Insults Republicans, Cites Labor Support In Latest Plea To Stay In DC
Based upon the Twitter timeline of Indiana reporter, Eric Bradner, Senator Richard Lugar appears to be casting aspersions at GOP voters and citing Labor support and earmarks, in effect, groveling to Democrats for last minute votes in a desperate plea to keep his hotel room in Washington and not, perhaps, be forced to move back to Indiana. Lugar trails Mourdock by 10 points in a recent poll.
While never a big fan of Lugar, this is still sad to see, as the 36 year incumbent and octogenarian attempts to cling to power. The conventional wisdom is, Lugar needs Democrats to turn out in the GOP primary to have a chance to win.
Lugar: Question is, how to get the primary electorate to look more like the general electorate.
Lugar: "I appeal to working men and women." Mentions meeting Lunch Pail Republicans. "They're labor people. They have endorsed me."
Lugar: "I want everybody in the state to vote for me. ... At this point, help. It's very, very important..."
