I'm not a believer that the Left is purposefully trying to destroy American economy in order to punish her for past and present sins. There is no need for such designs -- all they need to do is follow their bad ideas -- like, keep cultivating and growing the public sector and the government, tax, print and spend more, redistribute more, regulate more, introduce more controls and micromanagement.... promote fear and resentment of bad, nasty capitalists, and cultivate the belief in governmental protections and solutions.

This will do the trick. The economy will slow down, and more of us will come to depend on government's redistributions.

Economic and political freedoms go together. I wrote the post below a couple of years ago. Note the quote from Dostoyevsky. This guy figured it all out 150 years ago, way before Hayek -- Socialistic policies lead to despotism.
