Good article. Many do not realize one of the original goals of Social Security was to allow older workers to go ahead and retire, opening millions of jobs for younger people in the Great Depression.
As for this so-called Social Security crisis- lifting the salary cap would solve it in one piece of legislation- for at least a
century, probably longer. Medicare is a bit stickier, but only because the current law puts ridiculous restrictions on the plan.
Universal health care properly applied, would end that problem.
The amount of disinformation on this topic is tremendous, but considering the huge amounts of special interest profits
riding on it, not surprising.
Campaign finance election reform would solve this as well.
