>influx of Hakka Chinese ex India>

They are a very small community starting out of Tangra in Calcutta. (maybe just a few thousand are left in Calcutta). Their primary profession was tanning, and for some time indian-chinese restaurants and beauty parlors. But now in India every restaurant in the corner carries indian chinese food.

en.wikipedia.org.

The business has gotten competitive and like other middle class indians, the Hakka chinese have sent there representatives to the western world for better fortunes. Family connections have brought them to NYC and Toronto areas. I know a few here in New Jersey and they have relatives in Tokyo that they visit regularly.
