Something just occurred to me. Would it be possible that Schmidt used the cover of a "kitchen sink" quarter to hold back revenue for this quarter "just in case"? Kind of works the opposite way as stuffing the channel except you understate little by little going forward until you either need to fill a hole or you want to deliver a blowout. Holding back & then delivering a blowout could serve to reinforce the impression that a turnaround is complete. Of course, the problem is then that you have to continue to meet those heightenend expectations. Just a thought.
