Religious practice has nothing to say about abortion... OK.... Riiiiiiight.
Your wording is odd. Religious practice has nothing to say about anything, except perhaps words that are part of actual practice, like words used in prayer or ceremonies (and even then it would be very odd to say the practice is saying something, the people would be saying something).

Religious doctrine or dogma may say something about abortion, so might religious officials, or just people inspired by religious thoughts. And I never said otherwise. But laws about abortion are not laws about religion. The law would not (or at least would not have to) make a religious statement or require or forbid any religious observance or belief.

A religion taking some item as its religious rule or principle, doesn't make the issue a religious issue. For example "Thou shalt not steal" doesn't turn laws against burglary or bank robbery in to violations of the establishment clause, because the actual issue isn't about religion. The same holds for abortion, and any other law, or potential law that isn't about religious worship or practice, or religious organization.
