J.F. Sebastian: I feel like I should yell at you. Have you not been reading this board and all the advancements of the Apple ecosystem and the iEverythings? Those things need frequent updates and by proxy, Apple is forced to upgrade the laptops/desktops too, since the iEverythings get connected to them for all sorts of activities like downloading photos etc etc. Sometimes updates are needed to contain malware, and, if you can afford a Apple desktop/laptop, you can afford to upgrade to Lion - $30!

Bloat - what the hell do you own? I have a seven year old iMac with the Lion upgrade and it's not any more slow than before the upgrade.

I also have a year old iMac and it is unphased by any upgrade. You may want to consider adding more RAM to your rig. That's the fastest, cheapest way to cure bloat - and you may even protect yourself from Lahcim's cruel metaphors and be able to virtually dry yourself off!

To answer your question, there is no negative result from upgrading to the latest version.
