I have a seven year old iMac with the Lion upgrade and it's not any more slow than before the upgrade.

I hear ya! I recently upgraded my 2007 MBP to Lion (Apple graciously sent me a copy of Snow Leopard gratis so that I could get Lion) and I'm amazed at how smooth the move has been. No slowdowns, crashes, whatsoever. Yes, my PPC applications no longer run, but I was planning to upgrade them to the current versions anyway.

Overall, great job Apple :-))
