Quite true, one man's adequate computer is another's nightmare of slowdowns and spinning beachballs. I run into this all the time because, well, I like to get things done quickly. Time is money.

If you want blazing fast, buy a Mac Pro. I think though you will still be unhappy. Some applications just run slower than others.

Yes, a Mac Pro would suit me just fine, but even the least expensive new model is $1,000 more than I paid for my iMac.

I am not unhappy with the iMac's speed, that is too strong a word. In fact, I was just wanting some assurance that Lion would not slow it down. You have provided strong evidence that it won't, and I thank you for that.
