That is a tremendous chart. For 30 years, in inflation adjusted dollars, the Federal spending was EXPLODING in comparison to average family income. No wonder we're in trouble. One would expect that politicians, along with their economics professors, should be smarter than a felt boot and could foresee likely consequences of their actions, but obviously that is not the case.
I agree. But I believe that, for the first 36 of those 40 years, the cause of the dramatic rise in spending could largely be contributed to lack of foresight, and irresponsibility. During these last four years, I think the entire game has changed and our leadership in D.C. -- especially in the administration itself -- has something less than the well-being of our republic at the top of its list of priorities. All we have to do is look at Obama's list of past and present top advisors and mentors (Van Jones, Valerie Jarret, Tim Geithner, Eric Holder, Rahm Emmanuel, Kathleen Sibelius, David Axelrod, the 30+ unconstitutional czars, et al) and it becomes evident that the polar opposite of what's good for America is at the top of this administration's list of priorities -- and spending like drunken sailors, resulting in increased debt and tax burden, and eventual citizen servitude, is simply a part of the agenda. |
