OT: Review of my $65 Velocity Micro T301 7" tablet.
Day one, I was not happy. Being an Apple dude, I'm used to things being wondrous, straight out of the box. This Android toy was not. Nothing about it was intuitive, to me. I was disappointed, and kinda felt like I wasted my money.
Then, I watched some YouTube videos about it, which cleared up a lot of mysteries.
Now I'm kinda liking it. The browser isn't great, but maybe I'll find a better one, later. Email set-up was a breeze.
The fact that I can stick my 32BG card into it, loaded with movies and music, is great for plane travel and such.
It does not play ball with OS X, but plays very nicely with my Windows XP, via Parallels Desktop for Mac, using built in USB. Sweet: the movies and music just flew to the SD card. :-)
So, bottom line: this is definitely not an iPad killer, but - for $65, the price of a 64GB flash drive stick - I have a decent media consumption, web and email toy that fits into the cargo pocket of my trousers.
Oh, and it came with a stand for easy media viewing, like on the airplane's tray, and a soft case. It can be charged either via USB or with the supplied wall charger. Battery is replaceable. All in all, not at all bad.
Never thought I'd become an Android fanboy, but I'm starting to turn Android green. :-))) |
