How many people are happy with small pickups?

They sell about 400K/yr in the US. Contractors and farmers may not like them, but a lot of suburban dads do. Hell, my Senator (Scott Brown) even drives one! Seriously, except for towing capacity the Ranger is not much smaller than the F150. The bed is a little smaller, although there are several configurations of each, cargo weight capacity is about the same.

My point wasn't to argue in favor of small trucks, but that Detroit already knows how to improve the mileage at least 50%. They don't do it, because their market research tells them power is more important than economy.
