I've been thinking about that graph. It is so telling about what is happening.

If we assume productivity has increased 2%/year since 1970 our standard of living should have doubled by now. Instead we are benefiting from a 24% increase.

And it also knocks down the idea that the rich are taking it all.

Virtually all the benefits our our productivity growth are being harvested by governments at all levels. And what exactly are we getting for this?

If voters understood this we'd have very different voting patterns.
