Some years back there was a case in Texas in which 3 white men tied a black man to the back of a pick-up and dragged him across some fields to his death. It came out that one of the men had spent time in prison, where he said he had learned his racism and hatred of blacks. It appeared to me that this was a cancer. That life in prison would lead to him infecting other younger prisoners. For the first time I supported the death penalty. I believe he was executed for the crime. I still have my doubts, for a lot of reasons, but this case changed my thinking for a bit.
