To compare apples to apples and calculate the deficit of let say Italy per capita (which is the unit that will work, produce useful things and pay back the debt) you need to add the relative part of the US federal deficit to the California state deficit to arrive to the same GDP/Debt ratio or debt per capita ratio for California and then compare to Italy or France as an example, and decide which debenture yields are more profitable for investments, as neither France or California will likely default, if you will go to Church and pray regularly and not engage in profane practices like blaming the giant blood sucking squid for the ills of the world economy <GGGG>
