David Robertson was lights out in the eighth inning until he took over from Mo. Then he blew a save vs. the Rays, kept loading the bases but escaping, before hopefully finally starting to settle down. The ninth inning has always been way different from all the others both for hitters and pitchers.

As you know, we sports fans tend to covet players we don't have, who we really only know from when we see them help beat our team and on Sportscenter. It's rare we cherish guys we see day in and day out, which means witnessing all the bad that inevitably goes with the good. Sports fans are pessimistic by nature. The one guy who stands totally apart from the crowd, and truly on a pedestal is Mariano. After pacing back and forth, cursing at the TV, and generally going nuts, the moment Mariano comes in you start celebrating, finally can take that bathroom break, and then go fix yourself a sandwich, sit down, and relax. I already miss what other sports fans never had!
