Dole backs Justice Department against Microsoft infoworld.com

Well, Hatch is more important at this point, but the ilk accept all comers. Soon to be incorporated: the Ilk National Unity Party.

"When a dominant company artificially dictates how, where, and even if consumers have choice in the online marketplace, it is time for the government to step in and enforce the antitrust laws," Dole wrote in an opinion column published in the Los Angeles Times.

The 1996 GOP presidential nominee predicted that the Internet will be home to the next wave of commerce innovations and said Microsoft should not have a monopoly there.

"It is fairly easy, for example, to envision the entire securities industry moving to the Internet -- initiating millions of online transactions worth billions of dollars each year," he said. "If almost everyone must pass through a Microsoft toll booth to use the Internet, it is not unreasonable to believe that Microsoft will impose its 'vig' on most activity on the Internet."

I think Microsoft needs to learn to be a little discreet about its future plans for the monopolistic death grip. All those old statements coming back in the wrong context, pity.

Cheers, Dan.
