It's not just the black community that has missing fathers--40 percent of white babies are now born out of wedlock also. The welfare culture has eliminated the need for a nuclear family.

This is just one of many reports that indicate that out of wedlock births are increasing. If you google "out of wedlock" births you can find all that statistics you need to confirm this. Linking it to the existence of welfare may be harder to do, but it's not stretch to see that as a contributing cause. Again this trend permeates ALL races.

This article is about women in their 20s and 30s who have children when they are unmarried. Most welfare moms start out as pregnant teens who didn't necessarily want a kid but become pregnant nonetheless. These are two different issues.

I don't excuse welfare moms. I don't condone having kids out of wedlock. However, I do understand what centuries of abuse can do to a culture and so I understand why the black community still has significant problems with dysfunction, crime and violence. I understand why its difficult for a nuclear family to survive in the black community. At the same time, I wouldn't wish a welfare check on anyone.....it sucks. There is never enough money for survival.......in fact, its a joke.

And let me tell you.....dysfunction can be a problem in some white communities as well with results often very similar. When I student taught, there was a guy who was one of the best students in the school. Despite the genetic odds, he was smart and liked to learn. He got a scholarship to go to Western WA university.........a good school. Neither parent supported him in this indeavor. They thought going to college was "snooty". In fact, it was one of his teachers that accompanied him on a tour of the school. She said he was scared..............felt completely out of his element. His girlfriend was threatened and was against his going to the school even thought it was only a hundred miles away from Seattle. He got no encouragement from his friends. His teachers pleaded for him to take the scholarship. He ended up turning it down............last I heard, he's working as an auto mechanic.

I don't know why his family is so dysfunctional and unsupportive but that's what cultural dysfunction does to a person.........and this guy was white. The amount of abuse that was done to the black community in this country has led to extreme levels of dysfunction within that culture. Whites can judge all they want but its never been easy growing up black in this country. That's not an excuse.......its reality.
