Eric, On the surface, the Wink technology looks good and the company certainly has lined up an impressive list of partners. IATV (stock symbol) also has similar technolgy and will be offering multiple feeds in Texas this month for Fox Regional Sports. This will allow you to either watch the main feed, or switch to a key player, check, stats, etc.
I have no idea regarding Zenith's plans for digital-feed interactivity, however, it wouldn't take much for Zenith to become a licensee of either Wink's and/or IATV's systems.
Seems that Zenith/LGE are moving to a more advanced form of two-way interactivity by combining simulataneous TV and Internet transmissions. LGE already has a product which, on one-half of its wide sceen is shown the TV program, and, on the other half is shown an Internet page that allows you to interact (purchase products, polling, eductional interaction, etc.)
If Zenith licenses the Wink tech, recommend that this be one of the features to be listed in Zenith's list of options on its "Zenith Direct" website. Purchasers could add the features they want to their new HDTVs and SDTVs on a "Build on Demand" basis (just like the Dell website). Other add ons to include satellite dish receivers, set-top boxes, audio equipment, Divx players, plasma screen upgrades, digital VCRs, advanced remotes, camcorders...
Terry, This would be an area worth addressing at your upcoming meeting.. |
