Re: Wanna get pissed off?

That site is really interesting because I live in the DC metro area and my girlfriend works with federal employees. She is not however a federal employee, she works for a regular company that has contracts with the government. Just for fun we queried on a few of the folks she works with...

Almost all of the people she works with make $40 to $50K more than she does. I knew there was a wage difference but I didn't know it was THAT much.

My father said that back when he was entering the work force with his PhD, he had three options:
- Work for private company = more money, good job security
- Work for government = less money, but better benefits
- Work for university = least money, decent benefits

Amazingly over the last couple decades that has changed to:
- Work for private company = crappy wages, horrible benefits, poor job security
- Work for government = best wages, best benefits, best job security
- Work for university = crappy wages, good benefits
