Ali, Re: LSI's G11 process

This is a .25 micron drawn process. Their claim for .18 micron is definitely for Leff. LSI is at least 2 years behind Intel and AMD in process technology. LSI is still using i-line steppers and isn't even close to producing a true .18 micron process. LSI has announced that they are cutting back on capital spending, so if anything they are falling farther behind, not catching up.

There is definitely a pecking order in the semiconductor industry when it comes to process. IBM is on top, followed closely by Intel. AMD is rising fast, but still clearly behind Intel. NEC and a few others are in the same pack with AMD. LSI, VLSI and most of the Far East fabs are a definite notch lower.

Not sure what this has to do with AMD however.
